City Council Special Budget Meeting Tomorrow

Finally, the day of reckoning is here.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, September 15th at 9:00 AM, the City Council will hold a special meeting to discuss the to discuss the proposed Early Retirement Incentive Program (ERIP), City Department operational plans, labor negotiations, and other actions necessary to balance the City's current year budget. Essentially they will discuss the same items which were on today's Budget and Finance Council Committee meeting.

It is inexcusable that the finalization of the City's budget has dragged out this long. Absolutely inexcusable. The seemingly unending delay and stalling as the City negotiated with (some of) the Public Employee Unions has only served to make a bad budget problem worse.

Hopefully, the City Council will suck it up, reject the ERIP, institute a Citywide furlough program, and begin the process of laying off workers.
