The proposed buildings will be occupied by office and light manufacturing uses and will range from 4-5 stories in height; but, not to exceed a maximum height of 70-ft.
- Comments: This project was originally discussed in the 8/2/09 Development Brief but the CEQA document was re-published due to a change in the project's description.
6263 West De Longpre Avenue - [ENV-2009-1591-EAF]
- Project: Demolition of a 8 unit apartment building, a single family home, and a garage in the proposed Afton Square Historic District. These structures are identified as contributing structures to the proposed Historic District.
- Comments: This project was originally discussed in the 6/6/2009 Development Brief. According to the CEQA Initial Study prepared for this project the demolition of these circa 1939 structures (along with the three single family homes across the street) would not have an significant impact on the proposed Afton Square Historic District. Ok, so not knowing anything about these building in particular, my question is how many contributing structures in a proposed Historic District can you demolish before it becomes a significant impact? I'd assume these building are not high profile enough to warrant saving. Even better, as no new construction or use is proposed for this site, these historic structures will be replaced with a hole in the ground. Sweet. Goodbye 1939 houses, hello vacant lot which will sit empty for the next 5 years.
