A quick reminder that the 1st Design Workshop/Community Meeting for the proposed new park at 5927 Carlton Way is tomorrow, Thursday, December 17th, from 6:00PM to 7:30PM at the First Presbyterian Church located at 1760 Gower Street Los Angeles, California 90028.
This City is proposing to acquire this site using funding from the Statewide Park Program. The Statewide Park Act is a new competitive grant program which will award a total of $368M in grants towards the creation of new parks and new recreational opportunities in underserved communities. Community input is an critical component of the grant application so it is important that area residents participate in these workshops to give comment on the design of the proposed park.
5927 Carlton Way is almost 8,300 square feet so there is plenty of room for amenities like a small community garden, benches, picnic tables, shade trees, a fitness zone with outdoor exercise equipment, or a children's play area. The options are limited only by your imagination.
